Hydrate the Gut

Drink 1-2 16 ounce glasses of water 10 to 30 minutes before each meal. That will hydrate the gut before eating. They body does its maximum amount of work processing the food from eating. By drinking well before eating we prepare the body to do its best during digestion.

Why? The stomach is a highly acidic environment. It uses the hydrocholoric acid to break down food. When completed, it uses bicarbonate to make the stomach chyme more alkaline. The amount of bicarbonate the lining of the stomach can store is dependent on its level of hydration. The intestines will not allow chyme to be released into it unless it has been treated properly by reducing its acidic nature. It is a life and death decision for the intestines. That is why so many suffer from acid indigestion. The lack of hydration creates a more acidic chyme.

Another common problem is drinking while eating which can water down the stomach juices and prevent them from breaking down the food. Hydrating the gut needs to happen 10 to 30 minutes before each meal.
