Food as your Medicine

In China for thousands of years food has been studied and used to restore health. These are general principles to improve our health through food. Today we see a resurgence of studies from doctors who have begun treating illnesses by changing the food we eat.

Eating 1/2 Raw Food

Studies show that eating a standard diet of cooked foods creates inflammation in the body. This is worse with packaged foods and foods laden with preservatives, herbacides, insecticides, and other chemicals. Sugar is also known to produce inflammation and literally suppresses the immune system. Sugar is known to be two times more addictive than cocaine. Whole foods like fruit contain the complex needed for the body to absorb sugars properly.

Studies show that eating 1/2 raw food with meals creates zero inflammation in the body.

Think about it. Raw food contains all the enzymes needed to digest it. So does fermented foods. I recommend combining raw & fermented foods with every meal for zero inflammation along with better absorption of nutrients. Studies show enzymes to be the safest way to treat illness for health ... Fruit First

Fruit is the closest food to Mother's milk. Why? Because it has single saccharides. What does that mean? It means fruit has no complex sugars and is easily digested.

Fruit completely digests in ten minutes on an empty stomach. Fruit taken before the meal digests completely and quickly. This enables the intestines to receive all the nutrients from it. Secondly, it prepares the stomach with fresh enzymes to help digest the rest of the meal.

Fruit mixed into the meal becomes fermented and does not digest as well. Some fruit like melons are best eaten by themselves on an empty stomach.

Colors

Many laughed at ancient cultures for their belief that the color of the food indicated its intrinsic value in the body as nutrients. Today we know that is true from bio studies of various foods. The phytochemicals in food give food its color and specific characteristics.

Foods can be broken up by their nature of helping our defenses to be healthy. This goes beyond the immune system. Food includes building the microbiome or the gut flora. Food helps protect our DNA and even repair it. Foods can build up or tear down blood vessels necessary to loose or gain weight. Some foods even produce the stem cells needed in the repair and regeneration of our tissues. Tissues in the body regenerate themselves many times over during our lifetime.

Need to loose weight? Then look at foods that help breakdown or build blood vessels -- angiogenesis foods.

Need better digestion or digestion issues? Then look at foods that build the microbiome or the gut flora.

Need repair from injuries? Then look at foods that produce stem cells and protect/repair our dna.

Need to recover from or protect yourself from an illness? Look at foods that boost the immune response.

One approach to restore or regenerate health is to get all five defenses in the body daily.

Fermented

What did we do before refrigeration? We fermented foods.

Fermented foods preserve food while retaining the nutrients including the enzymes needed to digest it. Heat can destroy enzymes and many nutrients in food. Certain foods like root vegetables actually have more nutrient value cooked. The same applies to fermented foods.
