Lesson 8 - Tai Chi Alternating Step Warm Up

Begin each warm up with a simple walking the square from the left bottom corner and then repeated from the right bottom corner. Then you are ready to begin the steps with movements.

The alternating step warm up consists of completing the square with three movements -- ward off, roll back, and embrace / press. They are first done three times on each side.

For the ward off, for example, ward off to the center and step to the top left of the square. Ward off to the top right of the square and step to the center. Ward off to the bottom right of the square and step to the bottom left. That completes three moves to the right.

Next, ward off to the bottom right of the square and step to the center. War off to the top right of the square and step to the top left. Ward off to the center and step to the bottom left. This completes three moves to the left and begins the next movement.
